Remittance Advice
Remittance advice is the document or data a payer sends with or alongside a payment to explain what it covers: which invoices are being paid, in what amounts, and any deductions taken. It is what lets a lender match an incoming payment to the right invoices during cash application.
Why it matters for cash application
Remittance advice is the key input to payment matching and reconciliation. Clean remittance makes cash posting straightforward; missing or messy remittance is the main reason cash application is slow. Short pays disclosed in remittance also surface dilution as it happens.
Formats and friction
Remittance arrives as structured ACH and EDI files, portal downloads, PDFs, spreadsheets, and free-text emails. Automating cash application is largely a matter of ingesting remittance in all these forms and matching it to invoices reliably, which Zolvo does across formats.
